You join as an Assistant System Engineer- Trainee. After an year of working, you are an Assistant System Engineer (Training is over!!!). This is called the confirmation process and it happens in the first year. After becoming an Assistant System Engineer you will get a salary hike which will depend on your first year performance rating. The amount will be varying from batch to batch. For example, people who joined in 2006 had their salary incremented from 2.2lpa (lacs per annum) to 3.88lpa (nearly doubled). After 20 months from date of joining, there will be another salary increment which will also be based on your rating. After the completion of two years at TCS, based on the performance you will be put into 5 performance bands. Band A(Top Performers), Band B(Good Performers),Band C,Band D and Band E(Poor performers). A-band people will be getting around 5lpa,B-band 4.5lpa,C-band 4lpa, and D-band Around 3.75lpa. People in E-band (the most hopelessly low performers get this or if you manage to put up a fight with your boss and his boss) get a reduction in their salary as their variable pay will be removed.
Where did you get this info? I seriously doubt its true.
